Soon after Dr. Gail Weingast finished her medical education in 1983, having completed enough internships and residencies to be qualified as a radiologist, she worked at several hospitals in Colorado and New York, before she finally settled into the position she has called home for more than two decades. Now, Dr. Gail Weingast is considered a highly regarded radiology specialist at William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich, Connecticut, where she is the Chief of Ultrasound and Breast Imaging. At Backus, she has created a department that is considered one of the best in the region.

While her path to her current important position wasn't always a straight line, Dr. Gail Weingast values every aspect of her journey because it all made her the doctor she is today. She is even fond of her first educational experience, where she attended Tufts University’s Jackson College and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish because it had a hand in making her choose a medical career.

Dr. Gail Weingast also did a pediatrics internship from 1976-1977 at Colorado General Hospital in Denver, then completed a residency in pediatrics over the next two years, after which she also completed a residency in the field of radiology from 1980 to 1983 and a fellowship in the field of ultrasound in 1983. Dr. Weingast completed her post-graduate studies as a radiologist from 1983 to 1984 at St. Anthony’s Hospital, also in Denver.

Soon after that, Dr. Gail Weingast worked at several other hospitals, mostly in Colorado, but also in New York, until she settled into her current position, where she has been for more than 20 years. In that time, she has been able to guide her department into its current position as a premiere medical facility. What has given her that ability is obviously her more than four decades of knowledge and experience as well as her impressive level of medical education. However, it is also her incredible instincts as a radiologist.
